A PLANE crash which has left twelve people dead in Papua New Guinea is being investigated by DFAT to see if any Australians may have been on board.
The crash happened about 3pm this afternoon near an airport in Kiunga.
There are reports the pilot may have been Australian. A DFAT spokesman said they were working to determine if any Australians were involved.
“We are aware of reports that a Sunbird Aviation aircraft travelling from Oksapmin to Kiunga in Western Province, Papua New Guinea has crashed on approach to the airport at Kiunga,” he said.
