In-flight Entertainment Apps

There is a lot to think about when preparing for a vacation, and  planning what to o while on the plane is an important part of that process (specially when travelling with children!) . While many travellers will have their own games and movies loaded onto their portable devices, there is also the entertainment provided by the airlines to help your time in the air fly by.  What you might not be aware of is, that today, rather than seat back TV’s, many carriers now stream their in-flight entertainment through apps that you will need to download prior to your flight.

So you don’t get caught unprepared, we have listed what you need to access in-flight entertainment on Air Canada, WestJet, Transat and Air Canada Rouge below.

Air Canada: enRoute In-flight Entertainment

Currently Air Canada has personal touch-screen TVs at every seat with more than 150 movies in every genre imaginable in more than 20 different languages, over 200 TV shows, documentaries, and even streams their very own ACTV channel.

Those flying at night will enjoy falling asleep to one of the 100+ albums and playlists in all genres, or an entertaining and informative audio book or podcast. Air Canada’s enRoute in-flight entertainment has you covered.

Air Canada also offers WIFI on select flights. There is a fee, per device, to access this service and you do need to download the Gogo Inflight app prior to your flight,

Air Canada Rouge: Player App

Flying Air Canada Rouge? Download the Player App before your flight and enjoy unlimited access to movies and TV shows for the length of your flight. The Player App can be download onto mobile devices, tablets or laptops and each device needs the app in order to connect.

WestJet: WestJet Connect App

If you are travelling on WestJet, you will need WestJet Connect. Downloading the West Jet Connect App will give you access to more than 550 hours of free TV shows and movies as well as free live satellite TV shows. This app can be downloaded on android and iPhone mobile devices  and is used aboard all of West Jet’s 767 jets.

WestJet also offers WIFI for a fee on board their flights which is accessed through their WestJet Connect app.

Transat

Transat has three different options for in-flight entertainment so it’s important  you know which aircraft you will be travelling on. Individual touch screens, are only available aboard their  Airbus A330 aircraft.  The CinePlus A App  is used aboard the Airbus A310 aircraft and the CinePlus B App aboard the Boeing 737 aircraft.

All three boast a wide variety of entertainment options for all audiences including classic movies and new releases, popular TV series and total of eight music channels for your listening pleasure. Since Transat’s in-flight entertainment delivery method differs between aircraft’s, be sure to consult with your Vision Travel advisor to determine which in-flight entertainment app you need.

It’s important to note that many other carriers also require in-flight entertainment apps to access in-flight entertainment, be sure to check with your Vision Travel Advisor.
