France: broken x-ray machines delayed travel for Eurostar

Eurostar says normal service in and out of London has resumed this morning following severe delays last night from Paris.

Two X-ray machines at Paris Gare du Nord broke down late yesterday afternoon, causing hold ups for London-bound passengers going through security.

A Eurostar spokesman said the problems started at about 4pm on Sunday.

The delays continued throughout the night and the train operator put on taxis or organised hotels for passengers on arrival at St Pancras International.

One traveller tweeted: “Finally home @ 3am instead of 11pm. Organisation @ Gare du Nord was not the greatest, thank you for the water/crisps on arrival.”

Eurostar tweeted: “It’s been a difficult evening, so apologies again to all those whose journeys were impacted from 17:00.”
