FIJI ISLANDS – – WEATHER – Heavy rain warning, flood alerts in effect for Fiji and its group of surrounding islands due to tropical disturbance TD12F to the NE and moving closer

 

SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER TWENTY SIX FOR HEAVY RAIN ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI AT 2AM ON THURSDAY THE 23RD OF FEBRUARY, 2017.

 

HEAVY RAIN WARNING

 

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND NORTHERN LAU GROUP, NORTHERN AND EASTERN VITI LEVU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP.

 

SITUATION: SHALLOW TROPICAL DISTURBANCE TD12F LIES TO THE NORTHWEST OF FIJI AND IS GRADUALLY MOVING TOWARDS THE GROUP.

MEANWHILE, ASSOCIATED TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WITH CLOUD AND RAIN AFFECTS THE GROUP.

 

FORECAST:

FOR NORTHERN AND EASTERN VITI LEVU, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, YASAWA GROUP, NORTHERN LAU AND LOMAIVIT GROUP:

PERIODS OF RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.

 

LOCALISED HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING IN THESE AREAS.
