Great City Breaks to Consider When Visiting in the Fall

Travel Tips

October 5, 2019

As the temperature begins to dip and the cities begin to buzz, with the upcoming holidays, this is a great time to book a trip. There is so much to do, eat and see!  So, if you only have time for a short get-a-way like a quick break or to celebrate your recent wedding.  Here are a few cities to think about:

Quebec City, Quebec, Canada:  Quebec City oozes with romance with its old cobble stone streets, fabulous food, beautiful shops and unique galleries.  There are several great places you can stay at both inside and just outside the wall depending on your budget.

  •  Did you know? Old Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist?  With a history of just over 400 years old, I guess you better start packing and check out this beautiful city.

Ashville, North Carolina, USA:  Take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and get your camera ready for the incredible display of colour that sweeps across the forest this time of year.  Once you get to Asheville, you will discover wonderful people, great food and a vibrant art scene.  Be sure to include at stop at the Biltmore Estates and discover the many festivals being hosted throughout October.  Also, if you love cider this is the place to be!

  •  Did you know? Asheville is adjacent to 8 national + state parks, 200+ waterfalls, and 4 rivers (the French Broad, Green, Swannanoa + Catawba), which means they have some incredible hiking trails.

Edinburgh, Scotland:  Why not jump the pond and spend a short break in this magnificent city.  Enjoy the coloured leaves, attend one of their many festivals (Octoberfest, Cocktail Week, International Storytelling Week or their CheeseFest) and visit their many galleries and shops.  Of course, you can’t forget Edinburgh Castle or their haunted tours during Halloween.

  •  Did you know? Edinburgh Castle is situated on Castle Rock, which was once a volcano that erupted over 340 million years ago.

Have any questions or wish to begin planning your city break. I am happy to help!
