Hi Mickey,
We are back from our trip around the world and want to thank you for all your help with the bookings and arrangements. The whole trip went flawlessly – all our flights were on time and Cunard honoured all their commitments to us. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. We crossed the International Date Line, losing February 17th after which we gained the day back one hour at a time. We crossed the equator four times and sailed on the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans, the South China Sea and many other smaller seas. We made several maiden calls and visited places we never dreamed we would see or even knew existed. We were not able to stop in Samoa because of Cyclone Winston so were eight days on the Pacific from Hawaii to New Zealand, having made a huge detour in heavy weather to avoid it. We had a “Pirate Drill” before reaching the pirate-prone waters off the east coast of Africa and had three nights of “darken ship” when we sailed like a ghost ship from Sri Lanka to the Seychelles. We made the most of our days ashore with interesting and sometimes adventurous shore excursions (catamaran-snorkel trip in Mauritius, street toboggan ride down the mountain in Madeira). We took full advantage of all the lectures and activities offered on the Queen Victoria and attended all the World Voyage events including a black tie gala dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore. We even were invited to dine at the Commodore’s table one evening, a huge honour! No-one does a world voyage better than Cunard and they have our complete loyalty after this. Our hotels in San Francisco and London were excellent and we were able to visit with members of both our families in the London area.
Thank you again for all your efforts on our behalf, for the champagne, obtaining and paying for our Australian visas and the on board gratuities. I know we peppered you with questions and details for weeks before the trip but all that planning really paid off for a spectacular experience.
