Gabriele Corcos is a Tuscan born TV host, producer, New York Times best-selling author, and food and technology entrepreneur. Best known for his James Beard Award winning TV shows “Extra Virgin” and “Extra Virgin – Americana” on the Cooking Channel in the United States and on Food Network International, Gabriele has always used food to bring people together, to celebrate, to initiate a conversation, to spark ideas.


A proud Italian, in love with Tuscany where he was born and raised, Gabriele has chosen to partner with Italianissima to design the ultimate Tuscan experience: a week spent living in a castle, where every day he will escort his guests discovering the Renaissance marvels of Florence, the unique beauties of Siena and, of course, he will reveal all the secrets of the Italian cuisine through cooking classes and food & wine curated itineraries.

Castel Porrona Relais

As a native Tuscan, Gabriele has chosen its beautiful, gorgeous, region to share with his guests the best Tuscany has to offer in food, wine, art, culture and local flavor. The setting for this immersive week will be Castel Porrona Relais, a Medieval castle beautifully restored, nestled in the hills of Montalcino and sit on top of a hill with breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside.


The Medieval village of Porrona, built during the XII century B.C., belonged for five centuries to two noble families from Siena, the Tolomei and the Piccolomini until 1894 when it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy. Today Porrona is a charming village where still live few local people. The abandoned building part of the village are now part of the private property and owners who decided to open here a 5* boutique hotel. The magnificent Castle, symbol of Porrona, is today part of the hotel and rises in the middle of the square, in a panoramic location over the Tuscan hills.


Itinerary for Italy’s Tuscany Corcos Culinary Week
October 26 – November 2 2019 


Day 1 Saturday: Arrival at Castel Porrona, light lunch upon arrival. Time to relax at the SPA and freshen up. Tour of the estate and Italian aperitivo with Gabriele, followed by a welcome dinner at Castel Porrona restaurant. 


Day 2 Sunday: Breakfast. Transfer to I Giardini di Daniel Spoerri to discover a magical, secret garden, full of unique works of art. After the visit, transfer to Pienza: once a sleepy hamlet, pretty Pienza was transformed when, in 1459, Pope Pius II began turning his home village into an ideal Renaissance town. The result is magnificent – the church, papal palace, town hall and accompanying buildings in and around Piazza Pio II went up in just three years and haven’t been remodeled since. In 1996 UNESCO added the town to its World Heritage list, citing the revolutionary vision of urban space. After lunch in Pienza, transfer back to Castel Porrona, ready to relax and enjoy the first hands-on cooking class with Gabriele and dinner to follow.


Day 3 Monday: Breakfast. Transfer to Montalcino, where you will have the chance to visit Castello Banfi, renowned for its wines. After a comprehensive visit of the Banfi Estate,you will enjoy a lunch on site with paired wines … the best way to taste them! After lunch,

and a pleasant walk in Montalcino, transfer back to Castel Porrona, ready to relax and enjoy an entertaining cooking class with Gabriele and dinner to follow.


Day 4 Tuesday: Breakfast. Transfer to Podere Il Casale, a Tuscan farm where you will experience a very entertaining truffle hunt, before learning the secret to make an exceptional Pecorino di Pienza cheese. Lunch on site with the hunted truffle (be sure to find

it!!) and farm-to-table local products. After lunch, transfer back to Castel Porrona, ready to relax and enjoy an entertaining cooking

class with Gabriele and dinner to follow.


Day 5 Wednesday: Breakfast. Transfer to Florence, where to enjoy a full day immersive experience, starting with a private guided walking tour of the city, a chance to discover or re-discover this unique Renaissance jewel. Free lunch (don’t miss Gabriele suggestions!). After lunch, transfer back to Castel Porrona, ready to relax. Italian aperitivo class with a professional mixologist, to learn how to prepare the Italian favorites: Negroni, Americano, Spritz. Dinner to follow.


Day 6 Thursday: Breakfast. Transfer to Tenuta Spannocchia, a local estate where the famous Cinta Senese pork is bred to produce the typical sausages and salami. After a tour of the farms and the castle inside the estate, tasting experience with the local products and transfer back to Castel Porrona. In the late afternoon, pizza class with Gabriele, making your own pizza like a pro!


Day 7 Friday: Breakfast.  Transfer to Siena for a private visit of the city and its Duomo.  Effectively a giant, open-air museum celebrating the Gothic, Siena has spiritual and secular monuments that have retained both their medieval forms and their extraordinary art collections, providing the visitor with plenty to marvel at. The city's historic contrade (districts) are marvelous too, being as close-knit and colorful today as they were in the 17th century, when their world-famous horse race, il Palio, was inaugurated. And within each contrada lie vibrant streets populated with artisanal boutiques, sweet smelling pasticcerie (pastry shops) and tempting restaurants. It's a feast for the senses and an essential stop on every Tuscan itinerary. After lunch and a relaxing walk in San Gimignano, transfer back to Castel Porrona. Relaxing time and farewell dinner all together to celebrate such an amazing week, Tuscan-feast style! Gabriele and Castel Porrona Executive Chef will cook a 4-hands special dinner to say “Arrivederci!”


Day 8 Saturday: Breakfast and departure for Fiumicino Rome Airport



Deluxe Room: Each one is filled by distinctive details and features such as wall coverings in sumptuous coordinated fabrics, wooden beams, views over the village of Castel Porrona and relaxation corners. Some rooms have showers with hydrotherapy jets, four-poster beds and panoramic views.
